School Temple and Religious Activities
Ensconced in a grove on the western flank of the campus, the heritage Shiva Temple with its pristine serenity and tranquillity creates an aura of spirituality and divinity. Its history dates back to the 18th century when it was believed to have been set up by Maratha soldiers who were ardent devotees of Lord Shiva. An umbrella and a snake of pure silver were presented by Lt Col H S Alexander, DSO of 44 Merwara Battalion to commemorate the safe return of the Hindu troops from Mesopotamia (modern-day Iraq) after the World War I. There is a small pravesh dwar for devotees to enter with humility and pay obeisance. The idols of the Shiva family—Nandi, Lord Ganesha, Shiva and Parvati—have been placed in the temple. The Shiva Linga is made of black stone.
